The Silent Departure

The Silent Departure

I yearn to be a source of pride, Yet I can't escape your critical eyes.
No matter my efforts, they fall short, In the shadows, I remain flawed and caught

Under the weight of your disapproval, I silently endure the pain, feeling unable.
Each step met with scepticism value to you, always in question.

Met with sarcasm, my words lose their weight, Mockery lingers in every debate.
Not taken seriously, Excitement fades in conversations that teem.

My words met with scoffs and sneers, Assumptions that I'm unaware.
Struggling to find my way in this sea of doubt, desiring to be heard and seen throughout.

For a brief moment of peace, I can't embrace, examining my thoughts, my only place.
Held back by guilt, joy slips away, lost in remorse, I falter and sway.

Paying the price for my own happiness, Sacrificed in the shadow of exams' harshness.

Guilt crashes like an empire's fall, Leaving behind a shattered soul overall.

Mocked and derided, my flaws exposed, Striving for pride, but it never shows.

An unending cycle hard to break through, In your eyes, I'm never truly true.

Playing along with the jest on me, If it brings joy, I'll keep the glee.
Seemingly trapped in this role I play, Their happiness dictates my everyday.

Standing alone at the brink of breaking, Bearing the weight of life, it's overwhelming.
No longer able to withstand the pain, I step out of this relentless cycle lane.

As I bid farewell from my core, Apologies to those I hurt.
Grateful for the love and warmth you shared, Remember me, in tales you've aired.

Be it with a smile or a scornful gaze, In cherished memories or those that blaze.
Just hold onto a piece of me, your way, As I fade into the night, this final day.
